Abstract
This source, written with some 15 more years of field experience, is extremely like the author's earlier work (Source 6: Basden in this file) in content and in subject coverage. The major difference seems to be that this volume gives a more comprehensive coverage of the religious beliefs and practices, with perhaps less emphasis on cannibalism than the previous work. The similarity in texts reflects the author's intention to document a way of life which was rapidly disappearing during his own tenure among the Igbo rather than to record his own experiences and observations as such.
