Abstract
This monograph is a descriptive study of Garo culture and history with emphasis on the village of Rengsanggri, the site of Burling's field research. Kinship and social organization are discussed in specific detail. Religion and economy receive a thorough examination, especially with reference to changes brought about by the work of the Christian Missions and influences from Bengali and Assamese culture.
