Abstract
This article deals with the materials, construction, design and uses of basketry among the Caribs in the island of Dominica. Over half the study is devoted to a comparative treatment of similar basketry among the modern non-Carib population of Dominica and among other groups in the Americas. Both authors are professionally trained in anthropology. Taylor has published many works on the Island Carib, and Moore taught anthropology at the American University in Washington.
