Abstract
This article from the HANDBOOK OF SOUTH AMERICAN INDIANS is a summary based on several primary sources, and written by an author who himself has done field research in the area and published several articles on the Carib. No single aspect of the culture is treated extensively, but a fairly well-rounded ethnography id presented. In addition, a brief history of early European contacts and comments on earlier writers are given. The list of sources on page 565 refers to a complete bibliography for the volume which appears on pages 567-609 pf the original which has not been included in the file.
