Abstract
This is a concise article about the technology for and beliefs about fire among the Warao. Specific data are primarily from the Winikina subgroup. Detailed coverage on fire and torch making, hearths, and fire maintenance is supplemented with data on sexual division of labor and the religious importance of fire. The article also contains a version of the Warao fire origin myth. Social and religious data would seem secondary in importance to description of the technology.
