This document is the introduction and one chapter of the Wilbert's major work dealing with the Indians of the Orinoco-Ventuari region of southern Venezuela. The introduction contains information on the geography and the location and basic indentification of the various tribes inhabiting the area. The chapter on the Sanema (which contains information on other Yanoama groups as well as other ethnic groups) presents general information on many subjects.
