Abstract
This source, written by a professional ethnologist, is the basic work on the Goajiro. The source deals with the various aspects of the life cycle: birth, child-raising, childhood, marriage, and death. Discussed in great detail are the relations between the members of the family and clan. Also treated in considerable detail are clan structure and the resolution of conflicts between clans, the various categories of crimes and the sanctions for each, and the various aspects of the property system. The author carefully points out which features are more representative of the traditional culture, and which have come about as a result of acculturation.
