Abstract
This work deals with the development and expansion of the economy of the Soviet Union under communist administration. Emphasis is placed upon the national economic plans under Stalin, and the extent to which production goals were met. Other topics covered include: the expansion of domestic and foreign trade; the increased exploitation of land and mineral resources; the availability of and restrictions upon labor supply; government organization and regulation of industry; and the historical background of agriculture and its position in the Soviet economy. The author devotes a chapter to evaluate of Russia's past achievements and to speculate on future developments.
