The first part of this source outlines the sequence of events in the peasant weddings of Northern and Central Russia. The second part contains translated texts of Great Russian and Ukrainian folk songs, with commentary. The songs are ordered by context and subject: choral dance, social gatherings, dances, military recruiting, robber gangs, bargemen, work, weddings, Ukrainian (including recruiting and historical songs), and sacred.
