AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
This source is a miscellany of information, which the author published, hoping that although it is 'incomplete and scattered, may prove valuable for reference' (p. 3). The material consists of brief notes on a number of topics and four word lists. The topics include: house building, canoe building, methods of fishing, uses of the coconut palm, varieties of coconut palms, children's games, women's clothing, the origin of the name of the capital: Nukualofa, and a native account of the transfer of some property. The word lists cover medicinal uses of plants, words for the parts of the human body, words related to disease and medicine, and a list of names of yams grown in Tonga.
