Abstract
This is a brief account of Tongan knowledge of astronomy and time reckoning. Aboriginal navigation depended upon the stars, but today, the compass has allowed most star lore to be forgotten. The description of the reckoning of time includes the names of the hours, days, and months, and the phases of the moon. The list of the 13 Tongan months also gives a small amount of information on the activities, mainly agricultural, of the different parts of the year.
