Abstract
Born visited Woleai as a government official. In his report he speaks of the people as culturally Central Carolinian. He mentions their political dependence on Yap, and their trips to other islands for trade. The article is well organized and in it Born deals briefly with cultural traits such as birth, death, magic, fishing methods, diet, canoes, house types, cleanliness, clothing, lack of art and music, weaving, and tattooing.
