Abstract
This document traces recent developments in Kiribati’s education system, focusing on the aims, content, and performance of government schools that were previously managed by Christian churches. While the system has been successful in graduating many Kiribati from technical schools and foreign universities, employment opportunities on the islands have remained limited. For maps and glossary, see Mason (1985).
