Abstract
Stories from the Tinputz of Kurtatchi Village and the Buka of Petats Island found in this document are divided into the following groups: culture-hero stories, culture origin stories, natural history stories, real-life stories, animal stories, animal association stories, transformation stories, stories about the spirits of the dead, stories about the supernatural forest creatures called [n]Pinari[\n] and [n]Tukis[/n], and miscellaneous tales. Commentary is provided on the distribution of similar stories among surrounding peoples. Information on mythology and folk beliefs is also presented.
