Abstract
In this article William Davenport presents a brief account of Santa Cruz ethnography with an emphasis on socio-political organization. Major topics discussed in this work are: culture history, geography, economic specialization and trade, settlements and domestic groupings, the significance of men's houses in the community, households and extended families, marriage and kinship, descent and filiation, and political associations -- particularly the men's associations and their leadership. The study concludes with a list of kinship terms employed by the inhabitants of Graciosa Bay and Cape Mendaña.
