Abstract
In this article, Mr. Austen discusses the sexual-physiological knowledge and beliefs of the Trobrianders, with particular stress upon their ideas of conception, pregnancy, and heredity. In doing so, he throws further light on one of the more interesting and controversial aspects of Trobriand culture. Austen was Assistant Resident Magistrate of the Trobriand Islands from 1931 to 1935.
