Abstract
This source consists of a study of the subsistence cultivation activities and local migrations of 50 villagers following the disastrous eruption of the Mt. Lamington volcano. The author focuses on the one hand on the relationships between land tenure and land use, and the relationships between residential and local organization on the other. With increasing size and stability of settlements and the commercialization of agriculture, the area's potential for economic development is raised.
