This article is a report on pottery making and related beliefs among the Iban. Notes are arranged numerically at the end of the text, pp. 175-176. Notes for the plates will be found on pp. 173-175. Mr. Freeman is a Reader in Anthropology at the Australian National University. He has done extensive fieldwork among the Iban of the Balleh in Sarawak.
