The westward migration of the Sea Dayaks
Sarawak Museum journal • 7 (7) • Published In 1956 • Pages: 54-81
By: Benedict Sandin.
Abstract
This article is a reconstruction of Iban migratory movement from southeastern Borneo across the mountains down to the South China Sea. It is based upon native folklore and genealogies collected by Sandin, who is a descendant of a noble Iban family and is now on the staff of the Sarawak Museum. Although the information has not been integrated into a smooth, well-organized narrative, nevertheless, it constitutes a valuable addition to our knowledge of Iban historical tradition.
