Journal of East Asiatic Studies6 (1) • Published In 1957 • Pages: 1-28

By: Lambrecht, Francis.

Abstract
This article is an ethnographic description of Mayawyaw Ifugao hunting and fishing methods and the rituals connected with it. A great number of native terms are given throughout this article. The Mayawyaw's main subsistence consists of rice and sweet potatoes. Fishing and collecting shell fish is also of importance. Hunting is of lesser importance but is connected with more rites than fishing. If animal bones are ritually neglected hunting luck will cease.
