Through analysis of healing rituals, divination ceremonies, and magical rites, this article discusses the religious beliefs and associated practices of the boat-dwelling Sama-Bajau, emphasizing continuities in fundamental elements of religious and magical beliefs despite the influence of surrounding adherents to Islam.
