Abstract
This article is a summary of Sosa's dissertation (see document no. 12). He discusses the quadrilateral structure of the Mayan world and how it is defined by the daily and yearly movement of the sun. He then discusses how this structure is duplicated and expressed symbolically in rituals and in the key symbol of the cross.
