Abstract
This paper is based on an ethnobotanical study of plants collected in the vicinity of Chichén Itzá. Although 225 species of plants and data on their use were collected, this publication presents only the new material found on 100 plants. For each plant the scientific name is given as well as the Maya and Spanish name, then a brief description of the plant and its use. The most prevalent use is to cure diseases, as such information is given for 60 plants. An alphabetical list of plants arranged according to their Maya names appears on pp. 218-220.
