This book is detailed ethnobotanical study of the Seri. After a broad overview of history, ethnology, and an ecological contextualization of the Seri, the authors detail each principle plant community that were still in use in the 20th century by the Seri who were previously primarily hunter-gatherers and seafarers. The plants described are accompanied by photographs, drawings, methods of harvest, and methods of preparation and cooking. This extensive knowledge is connected to the strategies employed by the Seri for mitigating and adapting to an ecologically-stressed traditional homeland.
