Abstract
This monograph reconstructs the complex social organization of Tenochtitlan at the time of the Conquest. The communities called [n]calpullis[/n] are found to be ambilateral clans with a tendency toward endogamy. Various political and economic aspects of the [n]calpullis[/n] are examined in depth.
