El Palacio49Published In 1942 • Pages: 25-38

By: Opler, Morris Edward.

Abstract
This article presents a detailed account of the combined five-day boy and girl's puberty ceremony. There had been little attention paid to this particular aspect of Jicarilla Apache culture in the available literature, except for a brief notation by Goddard in the course of his linguistic research and an origin myth on the subject by the author.
