Abstract
This work presents a brief cultural summary of ethnography on the Jicarilla Apache with emphasis on the history of the tribe from the first Spanish contacts in the mid-16th century to ca. 1983. The historical section of the work also contains much information on the relationship of the Jicarilla with the United States government in both the pre-and post-reservation periods. The source concludes with a qualitative analysis of the various general works written about the Jicarilla from the colonial period to the recent past.
