Abstract
This document focuses on the anxiety surrounding romantic versus plural love in fundamentalist Mormon polygynous families. The polygynous principle among fundamentalist Mormons is backed by strong religious tenets and sanctions. Marriage seals men and women together for eternity. Emphasis is placed on familial and harmonious love. However, the need for personal affection and intimacy by individual wives threatens this balance.
