Abstract
This source, by a Mormon historian, examines Mormon ideas about sexuality within the context of American ideas on sex, starting from the thesis is that Mormon ideas are out of step with those of the nation as a whole. It is concluded that the strict surveillance of sexual morality and the enforced standards of grooming and dress that characterize Mormon sexual attitudes are increasingly shaping Mormon identity.
