Abstract
This is the story of two famous witches, Suchiina and Tumahka, transcribed by the author from an oral text by Andrew Peynetsa at the farming hamlet of Nutria, northeast of Zuni, New Mexico, in March 1965. The text, which is scored for oral performance, involves a discussion of the standard punishment of witches in Zuni society and the intervention of the U.S. Army in these internal affairs.
