Anthropologists at Zuni

Proceedings of the American Philosophical Society116 (4) • Published In 1972 • Pages: 321-337

By: Pandey, Triloki Nath.

Abstract
According to Pandey the main theme of this work is to describe how the Zuni have reacted to and have viewed anthropologists who have touched upon their lives. The author presents several situations in which anthropologists were involved and indicates, in a tentative way, the repercussions of their presence on the lives of the Zuni. Since this article deals primarily with native reactions, both of a positive and negative nature, Pandey restricts himself primarily to those anthropologists no longer living. A sampling of these individuals, along with a brief resumT of their work, include Frank Hamilton Cushing, Matilda Coxe Stevenson, Alfred Louis Kroeber, Frederick Webb Hodge, Leslie Spier, Ruth Bunzel, and Ruth Benedict.
