Abstract
This document, by a pioneer traveler-ethnologist, deals primarily with the diet of the Zuni. The degree of rapport achieved by the author was unusual, in that he truly became a member of the tribe, holding both the offices of second chief and Head Priest of the Bow. The material presented includes detailed information of corn and wheat agriculture, on food preservation and preparation, on eating customs and etiquette, and on ceremonies relating to food. Historical material is included along with the texts of a number of folk-tales and myths. Also covered are a number of aspects of material culture and food collecting.
