Abstract
In this study, Frisbie examines the life of Navajo women before the Second World War based on ten ethnographies and 14 life histories. She discusses childbirth and child rearing, housekeeping, food preparation, farming, hauling, animal husbandry, recreation, arts and crafts, ritual knowledge and involvement, values, troubles and worries. She also looks at women's participation outside the home in history and politics.
