This source surveys Navajo conceptions of illness, including what we would classify as mental illness, and analyzes Navajo curing procedures as both appropriate and integral to Navajo theories of disease. The authors conclude that among the Navajo, as with any cultural group, 'the processes of psychotherapy… are integrated with conceptions of the nature of illness and its causes.
