Abstract
This newspaper article reports on the first election on the Navajo Reservation modeled after the national election system of registration and secret balloting. It covers the percentage of voters who turned out, the candidates for the Tribal Council, the method of balloting, and some of the chief issues facing the Council. It is particularly interesting in view of the attitude it indicates on the part of the Navajos toward developing the role of the Council.
