Abstract
This is a brief, but detailed account of the chief Navajo house types found by the author in the Chaco Canyon area. All the dwellings described are summer and winter hogans; no sweat or ceremonial hogans were discovered. The author's chief aim is to show how acculturation has affected the architecture, and construction methods since the descriptions recorded by Cosmos Mindeleff in 1898. However, he also reviews the observations of the earliest Spaniards as well as pre-Spaniard archaeological data.
