The texts in this collection of Hopi narratives include myths, legends, clan chronicles, oral history accounts, comments on and explanations of Hopi traditions and beliefs, and tales of adventures and personal exploits. Courlander's introduction to this source provides background on the Hopi and Hopi history and includes a discussion of Hopi narratives in general and of the themes, characters, and humor in the texts presented.
