Abstract
This source was written by a member of the Yurok tribe (Klamath) and tends to over-idealize the life of the American Indian. It is, however, probably no more biased in this direction than many travellers' accounts are in the opposite direction. A large part of the work consists of folk-tales and narratives. Also included are data on marriage, child-birth, burial, and a fairly good amount of information on the native ceremonial life. Other sections of the work deal with social stratification, house and boat building, and other features of the culture as recalled by the author. There are numerous typographical errors in the text.
