Abstract
This source is the part of Kroeber's comprehensive survey of California Indians dealing with the Yurok. The first chapter is a summary and comparative study of the northwestern California tribes and their cultural affinity with other tribes of the Pacific coast. The other chapters processed are devoted to the description of specific aspects of Yurok culture under the major categories of law and custom, religion, and arts. Information on the kindred societies of Karok and Hupa has been marked for the appropriate OWC files. The author is Professor Emeritus of Anthropology at the University of California and the acknowledged authority on California Indians.
