Abstract
Gifford presents the detailed data he gathered from the Coast Yuki from (mainly) three different informants. This is a classic ethnographic study and covers a broad swath of Coast Yuki culture including their beliefs and religion, settlements, place names, food quest, knowledge of flora and fauna, dogs, structures, tools, uses of fire, dress, entertainment activities, life cycle events, warfare, social organization, and 'schooling.' The informants were able to relate events that occurred prior to the arrival of Europeans into Coast Yuki territory. Vocabulary words are interspersed throughout the document.
