AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
This document is a valuable contribution to the ethnography of the Klamath Indians, written as it was prior to the reservation period during early Indian-White contacts period. This document contains data on geography, settlements, traditional folk-lore and culture history, linguistics, mythology, the spirit world, and a large collection of native texts and songs in Klamath with English transliterations illustrating some of the above cultural aspects (e.g., traditional history, mythology, etc.). Much comparative information is also presented on the Modoc Indians, a linguistically related but culturally distinct group.
