This monograph discusses both Northern and Southern Arapaho child-rearing customs (both are included). In addition to the data on child-rearing, the author presents information clearly and concisely on topics such as the concept of medicine, health, religion, supernatural powers, belief in life after death, domestic economy, tribal government, and marriage customs. Due to the nature of the subject, the source is rich in information about Arapaho women. Most informants were aged but were selected in part for their 'clear memories' (p. xiii) and are quoted directly.
