Abstract
Fenton describes the calendric cycle of Seneca ceremonies at Coldspring Longhouse, giving specific information on the functions of individual societies, form and contents of the rites, functions of specific rituals, and the differences in ceremonial procedure in this and other longhouses. The importance of moieties as social units in these ceremonies is given special attention. Included also in the accounts of the ceremonies are references to dances, songs, and secular activities accompanying the rites.
