AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
This is a survey report on the health and the social service needs of elderly Arab and Chaldean residents of southeastern Michigan based on a 98 respondents with a median age of 65. The respondents were generally satisfied with the services provided. In the discussion, Sengstock analysizes the discrepancy between respondents' recognized needs and those observed by the professional interviewers, in terms of their different cultural standards, including the reluctance of Arab-Americans to seek help outside of their group.
