This document presents the history and way of life of the Dayton-Elmo and Tobacco Plains Kutenai of Montana and adjacent British Columbia as recounted by a native informant and historian. Highlights include early contact with French-Canadian traders and missionaries, battles with the Blackfoot, and relations between the different Kutenai communities.
