Plains Kutenai: an ethnological evaluation
Alberta history • 30 (4) • Published In 1982 • Pages: 1-9
By: Schaeffer, Claude E..
Abstract
This document summarizes the history of a subgroup of Kutenai on the Northern Plains, focusing on interactions with other tribes and with Europeans. There is strong evidence that it was not inter-cultural conflict but the smallpox epidemic of 1736 that was largely responsible for the disappearance of the Plains Kutenai.
