Abstract
In this article, Rodnick attempts to delineate the number of traditional Assiniboine bands and their territory prior to the signing of the Fort Laramie Treaty in 1851. He bases his research on historical accounts by such notables as La Verendrye (1737-1743), John McDonnell (1793), Lewis and Clark (1804-1806), Alexander Henry (1807), Maximilian (1833), and Denig (1845).
