Abstract
This monograph traces the three phases of the Italian Canadian fascist press from its initial failure in the 1920s, to its noisy success in the middle of the 1930s, to its final demise in the early 1940s. The three major Italian Canaidan newspapers analyzed in this work are : L'Italia of Montreal, Il Bollettino of Toronto, and L'Eco of Vancouver. Other minor philo-fascist publications that appears in those years are also given consideration in this study. The editorial policies of these publications are '…woven with and presented against the background of the portentous events that shook the world and led to the Second World War. As obedient mouthpieces of fascist consuls, the newspapers in question reiterated the fascist claim that Italy had been rejuvenated and, had acquired a new greatness, power, and prestige throughout the world. They even partook in the campaign against Jews during the fascist anti-semitic policy of … 1938' (jacket).
