The story of a Tlingit community: a problem in the relationship between archaeological, ethnological and historical methods

Smithsonian Institution (172)Published In 1960 • Pages: x, 254 , plates

By: De Laguna, Frederica.

AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
In this volume De Laguna has attempted to integrate data on the archaeology, ethnography and acculturation of the Tlingit community of Angoon in order to reconstruct the ethnohistory of this group and the Tlingit in general. As such it is unique in that much of the ethnographic material was gathered in the field by De Laguna and her field crew while conducting the archaeological survey and the excavations at and near Angoon.
