Abstract
Gibbs' vocabulary lists include a wide variety of words from three cultural groups: South Alaska Eskimo, Tlingit, and Haida. The Eskimo materials were collected from two Kodiak Islanders in 1857. The Tlingit vocabulary came from a list in the possession of the Hudson Bay Company. The Haida materials include three dialects from three different 'clans.' These were compiled from a Hudson Bay Company list and several informants in 1854 and 1857. The lists are preceded by short notes on provenience of the materials.
